Balsam Range (shown above). Based in Haywood County, the band consists of area natives Marc Pruett (banjo),

All the fellows grew up steeped in traditions of The Grand Ole Opry... as well as the important influences of the Scotch-Irish settlers of the Southern Mountains, English ballads, and Western songs. Band Website

Paul's Creek Band. Stories from the banks of Paul’s Creek mix with traditional mountain sounds, originals, folk, bluegrass and more. With a focus on singing and harmonies, Carol plays guitar and dances, Jamie’s on upright bass, Troy’s on banjo and special guest Tim Gardner (High Windy Band) plays fiddle. This group loves fun, with the crowd shouting requests and singing along. Band Website

Lonesome River Band. It takes a lot of ambition for a band to stay together for over 25 years, but the award-winning LRB continues to amaze their loyal fans every step of the way. Longtime band member and driving banjo picker, Sammy Shelor has put together a wealth of talent - all the while keeping that distinctive LRB sound. With two strong lead vocalists, Andy Ball (mandolin) and Brandon Rickman (rhythm guitar), along with Mike Anglin on bass and Mike Hartgrove on fiddle, the group continues their reputation of one of the most respected names in bluegrass music. Alice Gerrard & The Kari Sickenberger Band. Alice Gerrard is a pioneer for women in bluegrass and old-time music . In a career spanning some 40 years she has played with many of the greats and one numerous honors. Band Website Kari Sickenberger, one of the founders of Polecat Creek, has teamed with fiddler, Natalya Weinstein and singer, songwriter and mulit-instrumentalist, John Miller, both formerly of the band, Lo-Fi Breakdown to form her own band. Kari sings her heart out in the tradition of the great country singers. Band Website

Dismembered Tennesseans. It was back in 1945 that a group of teenagers got together and began singing and playing a brand of bluegrass music that has gone on now for more than 60 years. The group has appeared on stage with many of the top bluegrass music stars and has performed in concert with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and the Chattanooga Ballet. They have appeared on a segment of ABC-TV's Peter Jennings Nightly News and were featured on the NBC Sunday Today Show. Band Website

Dehlia Low. Emerging out of Asheville NC's roots renaissance, Dehlia Low echoes the sounds of early country with a strong bluegrass flavor, crafting a fresh originality that feels like home. Since 2007 the group has quickly develped a devoted fan base, receiving national and international reviews and radio play. Confirmed for Merlefest 2010. Band Website

The Kruger Brothers. Swiss brothers Uwe Kruger on guitar, and Jens Kruger on banjo, team up with bassist Joel Landsberg. Kruger Brothers performances are exciting, calming, entertaining and spontaneous all-in-one, exhibiting their sheer joy in playing music. Although each of these musicians has earned high credit for his skills individually, it is the interaction of the three together which makes their music so uniquely special. Band Website

The New North Carolina Ramblers. Kinney Rorrer plays the banjo in the old time 3 finger picking style of Charlie Poole, and Kirk Sutphin can play the fiddle with same graceful touch that Posey Rorer had. These fellows not only perform songs and tunes from the repertoire of Charlie Poole, but also from many other old time artists. Darren Moore and Jeremy Stephens bring a wide variety of Carter Family material to the group. Band Website

Jeff Little Trio. Jeff Little comes from Boone, NC and began playing piano at age five. His distinctive two-handed style, much influenced by mountain flatpicked guitar tradition, is breathtaking in its speed, precision and clarity. Appearing with Jeff are the father-son team of Steve Lewis and Josh Scott. Steve has taken top picking honors in a host of contests, including the Walnut Valley Nationals, Merlefest, Galax Old Time Fiddlers’ Convention, and the Wayne C. Henderson Guitar Competition. Josh Scott is an accomplished bass player with over ten years of professional experience. Band Website

The Farewell Drifters. Combining elements of bluegrass with the accessibility of classic folk and acoustic Americana music, this stunning young band is turning heads nation-wide. Their songs offer a contemporary relevance and hopeful perspective that truly sets them apart. Though unafraid to grapple with the darkest aspects of the human experience, their light-hearted, often hysterical on-stage banter leaves audiences refreshed and entertained. Band Website |

• Natural Dye Workshop
Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at 11 am followed by the Duckie Race on the Creek at noon. Prizes, refreshments, photos with The Easter Bunny. This is the first year for our Deviled-Egg Cook-off with judging at 12:30 pm.
We're also holding an informative natural dye workshop for parents and children alike at 1 pm. Participants will learn the basics of dyeing with plant materials and take hope Easter eggs dyed with local plants such as walnut, oak moss, and marigold. $5 for adults; children free. More info

Annual Ramp Festival. Celebrate the arrival of ramps in the mountains with us. We'll have a traditional Appalachian dinner featuring ramps, and live music in the auditorium.
